How to make a polymer clay caterpillar

What you need

Clay in these colours

  • Green
  • Black
  • Pink
  • Sculpting tools from the kit
  • An electric oven and baking paper. An adult does the baking.

Step by step

  1. Roll a green ball for the head.

  2. Roll four small green balls, each a little smaller than the last, and lay them in a row next to the head.

  3. Press the small balls in place in a row behind the head.

  4. Roll two thin green sausages and press a small ball onto each one.

  5. Press the antennae in place on top of the head.

  6. Press black eyes, a black mouth and pink cheeks onto the head. Done!

Tip

Make the small balls a little smaller each time as you go towards the back.

An adult does the baking

  • 110–130 °C, never higher
  • 10–15 minutes per 6 mm of thickness
  • Electric oven only
