What you need

Clay in these colours

  • Light pink
  • Pink
  • Black

All these colours are in the Polymer Clay Kit (82 colours). See the kit

  • Sculpting tools from the kit
  • An electric oven and baking paper. An adult does the baking.

Step by step

  1. Roll a light pink egg shape for the body.

  2. Roll a bigger light pink ball, flatten it slightly and put it on top as the head.

  3. Roll a light pink teardrop and press it against the body as the tail, with the tip pointing up.

  4. Roll two short rolls and press them at the bottom as legs.

  5. Make three small pink teardrops and press them on one side of the head as gills.

  6. Do the same on the other side of the head.

  7. Press two black eyes far apart onto the head.

  8. Make a thin smiling mouth and press pink cheeks under the eyes. Done!

Tip

Make the gills a slightly darker pink than the body, so they really stand out.

An adult does the baking

  • 110–130 °C, never higher
  • 10–15 minutes per 6 mm of thickness
  • Electric oven only
  • Let it cool completely; attach cords and beads only after that
