How to make a polymer clay crab

What you need

Clay in these colours

  • Red
  • White
  • Black
  • Light pink
  • Sculpting tools from the kit
  • An electric oven and baking paper. An adult does the baking.

Step by step

  1. Roll a red ball and press it a little flatter for the body.

  2. Roll two short red sticks and press them on top.

  3. Press a small white ball with a black dot onto each stick.

  4. Roll six thin red legs and press three on each side.

  5. Roll two red teardrops and press them flat for the claws.

  6. Use the cutting tool to cut a pointed notch into each claw.

  7. Press the claws on at the sides by their narrow ends.

  8. Press a black smiling mouth and light pink cheeks onto the body. Done!

Tip

Lay the crab flat on the baking paper so the legs stay in one piece.

An adult does the baking

  • 110–130 °C, never higher
  • 10–15 minutes per 6 mm of thickness
  • Electric oven only
