How to make a polymer clay birthday cake

What you need

Clay in these colours

  • Pink
  • White
  • Red
  • Yellow
  • Orange
  • Sculpting tools from the kit
  • An electric oven and baking paper. An adult does the baking.

Step by step

  1. Roll a pink ball and press it flat into a thick cake.

  2. Roll a long, thin white strand.

  3. Lay the strand in a wavy line around the top edge and press it on.

  4. Roll six small red balls for the cherries.

  5. Press the cherries onto the cake in a circle.

  6. Roll a thick yellow candle.

  7. Make a small orange teardrop and press it onto the candle as a flame.

  8. Put the candle in the middle of the cake. Done!

Tip

Make one for someone who is having a birthday and put the right number of candles on it.

An adult does the baking

  • 110–130 °C, never higher
  • 10–15 minutes per 6 mm of thickness
