How to make a polymer clay cupcake

What you need

Clay in these colours

  • Beige
  • Pink
  • Red
  • Blue
  • Yellow
  • Orange
  • White
  • Sculpting tools from the kit
  • An electric oven and baking paper. An adult does the baking.

Step by step

  1. Roll a beige ball and shape it into a cupcake case: wide at the top, narrow at the bottom.

  2. Use the sculpting tool to make ridges all around the case, from top to bottom.

  3. Roll a long, thick pink sausage for the swirl.

  4. Coil the sausage round and round on the case into a swirl with a little point.

  5. Roll a small red ball for the cherry.

  6. Press the cherry on top of the swirl.

  7. Roll tiny sausages in blue, yellow, orange and white for the sprinkles.

  8. Press the sprinkles into the swirl. Done!

Tip

Coil the swirl from the bottom up, a little smaller each time.

An adult does the baking

  • 110–130 °C, never higher
  • 10–15 minutes per 6 mm of thickness
