What you need

Clay in these colours

  • White
  • Orange
  • Dark green
  • Light green
  • Sculpting tools from the kit
  • An electric oven and baking paper. An adult does the baking.

Step by step

  1. Roll a white ball and make it into a short, thick roll.

  2. Roll lots of small white balls and press them all over the roll as rice.

  3. Press a small orange ball flat into an oval and use the needle tool to scratch slanting lines into it for the fish.

  4. Lay the fish on the rice and press it on gently.

  5. Roll out dark green clay thinly with the roller and cut a strip from it.

  6. Wrap the seaweed around the middle, over the fish, and press it in place.

  7. Press a small light green block on top of the seaweed.

  8. Make another sushi roll like this and put them side by side. Done!

Tip

Roll the seaweed thin and cut the strip straight, so it wraps neatly around the sushi.

An adult does the baking

  • 110–130 °C, never higher
  • 10–15 minutes per 6 mm of thickness
  • Electric oven only
